Every Day is Earth Day with a Geothermal System from A C & R Services

Every year, Earth Day reminds us to stop and look at the world around us and find better ways to preserve the world in which we live. Heating, air conditioning and water heating together account for the second largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in North America. But did you know there's a way you can help save the planet and save money, all while receiving the ultimate in comfort?

The answer is right in your own back yard...

Homeowners who install geothermal systems are not only helping to save the environment but they'll also save up to 60% on monthly utility bills. geothermal systems, also known as geothermal heating and cooling systems, make every day Earth Day because they use the renewable energy available from the earth to provide heating in the winter and cooling in the summer, without burning any fossil fuel.

The system operates by simply transferring energy via an earth loop connected to a geothermal unit inside the home. In winter, the system absorbs heat from the ground and transfers it to the home. In the summer, the process is reversed, collecting excess heat from the home and transferring it to the ground.

Homeowners who install geothermal systems are making a great contribution to the environment. Since these systems don't need to burn fossil fuel to create heat, they generate no carbon dioxide, slashing greenhouse gas emissions compared to natural gas and oil furnace by about one pound for every hour of operation in a typical residential system.

Geothermal is affordable, too. Since it only depends on a small amount of electricity to power a compressor and small circulating pumps, it cuts the average home energy consumption by 25 to 60%. As a bonus, during the cooling season, the system can use the excess heat removed from inside the home to generate free hot water-resulting in an overall savings of about 30% of hot water costs each year.

They also help reduce peak electricity demand in both heating and cooling seasons-by about 3kW to 4kW for a typically sized residential home.

This high overall performance has led the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to name geothermal as one of the most energy-efficient, environmentally-friendly technologies currently available.
